If you’re into road cycling and love a good challenge, the Rocacorba climb is a must. Known as one of the iconic training climbs for professional cyclists in the Girona region, Rocacorba combines beautiful scenery, steady effort, and a true mountain climb feeling.

The ascent starts just outside Lake Banyoles and climbs approximately 10 km up to the Sanctuary of Rocacorba, with an average gradient of around 6–7% and some sections that climb above 10%. It’s not an easy ride, but with a steady rhythm and patience, it’s achievable for any cyclist looking for a rewarding challenge.

The road winds through quiet forests and shaded stretches, making the climb peaceful and atmospheric. And when you reach the top, you’ll be rewarded with incredible panoramic views over the Pla de l’Estany, the Pyrenees, and—on clear days—even the Costa Brava.

💡 Local tip: Pace yourself. The climb gets tougher in the final kilometers, so save your energy and enjoy the journey, not just the summit.

After descending, you can relax back in Banyoles, grab a drink by the lake, or combine the day with a gentle ride around the water.

At Banyoles Bike Rental, we offer both road bikes and e-bikes suitable for the Rocacorba climb, and we’re happy to help with route planning, pacing advice, and local insights.
